VERONA, Va. (WHSV) - The Augusta County courthouse project has made headway toward its goal, with completion on the horizon. Because of the large scale of the project, the county needed constituent approval to make the move happen. Back in 2016, Augusta County voters first denied moving the courthouse from the City of Staunton to Verona.

STAUNTON, Va. (WVIR) - The historic Augusta County Courthouse in downtown Staunton still needs work to make it safe and secure. Now, a judge has filed an order to know why that work hasn’t happened. Five years ago, the people of Augusta County overwhelmingly voted to keep their courts in downtown Staunton.
